Who Are We

Dr. Alicia Miller is a licensed psychologist with practices in Scottsdale, Arizona and Los Alamitos, California (coming soon). She specializes in the evaluation of children suspected of having autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorders, mood/behavior disorders, and disorders related to complex trauma. She is certified in Dr. Bruce Perry's Neurosequential Model for Therapeutics, which maps the brain related to trauma and then guides the best modality for effective treatment. In addition, she is an expert in the psychological assessment and treatment of individuals identified with Smith-Magenis syndrome, a rare genetic microdeletion. Dr. Miller also performs medical clearance evaluations for adults seeking spinal cord stimulators and trials, intrathecal pain pumps, and peripheral nerve stimulators.

Personally, Dr. Miller is the proud mother of two children, the oldest of whom has Smith-Magenis syndrome, Autism, and an intellectual disability. She is well aware of the stress the increased behavior dysregulation, therapy appointments and medical bills can put on a family. She strives to assist the whole family by offering empathy and understanding, as well as resources and support to increase the quality of life for all.

Services

Autism Evaluations

Our autism-specific evaluations consist of a clinical interview, cognitive assessment, broad-band social emotional rating scales, adaptive rating scales, autism-specific rating scales, as well as an in-depth hands on assessment that looks specifically at the signs and symptoms of autism spectrum disorders. Additional assessments may be added when needed.

ADHD

Our ADHD evaluations include a full cognitive assessment, a continuous performance test looking specifically at maintenance of attention to task and impulsive responses, as well as rating scales to determine the level of inattention, impulsivity, and/or hyperactivity across multiple environments. Children must be school aged for this evaluation.

Mood/Behavior

The mood/behavior evaluations begin with an in-depth clinical interview to best understand the mood/behavioral challenges. We then perform a full cognitive evaluation to best understand the cognitive profile. Also included are a variety of different rating scales geared toward the specific areas of concern, across multiple raters to best guide an accurate and appropriate diagnosis.

Trauma

Trauma evaluations also begin with an in-depth clinical interview to best understand how the trauma has impacted the child. We then conduct a full cognitive evaluation to gather information regarding the cognitive profile. Rating scales are also given to multiple raters to provide input regarding social/emotional performance and behaviors. Finally, a full Neurosequential Model for Therapeutics brain map is conducted via trauma-focused clinical interview. This brain map will allow the guardian and child to best understand how trauma has impacted their neurological development, as well as guide the family to the most effective treatment options. This appointment is completed over multiple days, one three hour in-person visit followed by a telehealth call to conduct the interview for the brain map, and then an additional tele-health appointment for feedback.

Developmental Evaluations

Our developmental evaluations are geared toward families needing additional information regarding their child's development and whether or not they would meet criteria for state services. We assess cognition, adaptive skills, social-emotional skills, and screen for communication and motor delays.
